The average cooking time is 35 minutes. The liquid is usually water, but if you use a light broth adapted to the meat or fish you are going to use as a vitamin B replacement, you will obtain a much more complex taste. Simply bring the liquid to a boil, add the barley, turn down to a simmer, and cook until tender.
