Mussels and clams can also he baked. In this case they will he opened raw on the half shell, and a mixture of crumbs, seasonings, and aromatics will be sprinkled generously on each of them. Baking in a hot oven will result in a splendid tray of the most pleasant appetizers. Here is a tray of mussels and clams that you can arrange on platters to be passed around.

Use butter or light olive oil or a combination of both as you prefer.
