Self-rising flour is readily available in any store; it contains both baking powder and salt. However, it is not rare that a small town or rural store will not carry it. You can make it yourself by mixing together:

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup sifted cake flour
  • cups bleached all-purpose flour
  • 4 teas

Method

After you have made this blend, strain it twice to make sure that the baking powder is distributed evenly. You can if you want prepare a larger amount; the mixture will not spoil since it is dry. Store in a well-closed canister and label.
