Scones are the glory of British teatime when served barely lukewarm with clotted cream and a great big dollop of raspberry preserve. Use pure yogurt made only of clabbered milk and without stabilizers.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted self-rising flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

Method

Preheat the oven to 450°F. Mix the flour with 2 tablespoons of the sugar. Add the ginger and orange rind; mix well again. Beat the yogurt and egg together until liquid; set aside. Using the fingertips of both hands, rub the butter into the flour mixture to obtain a very coarse meal. Gr
