These are a bit like wholemeal pancakes and make a really simple dish that goes well with a salad. My children used to love them for supper and even though I tried to dissuade him, my son Henry used to smother his in tomato ketchup. During the summer we sometimes ate them cold, wrapped around salad leaves and slices of tomato.

Ingredients

  • 350 g beef mince
  • 1 tsp red onion, very finely chopped

Method

In a large bowl, mix together the mince and onion and season with the chilli powder and a generous sprinkling of salt. Add the flour and mix together using your hands. Gradually stir in the water, using just enough to make the mixture stick together.
