Beef tataki is a staple at many restaurants and has been on Masu’s menu since the beginning. This is a great way to get a simple salad up and at the table.

Ingredients

  • 1 x 200 g (7 oz) beef sirloin
  • olive oil for cooking
  • sea salt and freshly cracked

Method

Lightly coat the beef in olive oil and season liberally with salt and pepper. Heat a sauté pan to smoking. Place the oiled and seasoned beef in the pan and sear on all four sides for about 30 seconds each side. Remove from the pan, allow to cool, then refrigerate so the beef firms up for slicing.
