    This delicious blend of several grains is a healthy alternative to steamed white rice. Purists can use just the heirloom grains (and not include the sushi rice) and cook them according to the instructions on the back of the package. This can be eaten as is or used to make Romy’s Fried Heirloom Rice (at right).

    We suggest that you blend the grains beforehand and only cook the amounts needed, following a proportion of 1 part rice to 1.5 parts water. We recommend cooking small batches
