We think of pudding as taking a long time, but as long as you like it warm (which I think enhances it), you can make this very quickly with only a few ingredients that you probably already have lying around. But if you want to cool it down, it’s also a great one to make ahead and store in the fridge for later.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, salt, and cornstarch with a whisk. Add the milk, turn on the heat to medium and whisk. Stir occasionally, but once it starts to simmer and it thickens, you’ll want to stir more—be careful not to over-stir, it doesn’t need a ton of whisking, but you just want to move it around as it heats.
