My dad was a welder by trade, and was always tinkering with his Ford Escort. He once helped the local fruit and veg vendor to fix his van. In return he was given a box of broccoli. It was the first time he ever set eyes on this particular vegetable. In wonder, he referred to the broccoli as ‘small trees’.

Ingredients

  • 2 green chillies, or to taste
  • 2 fresh tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp ghee or oil

Method

  1. Slit the green chillies lengthways. Cut each tomato into 6 wedges.
  2. Place a wok on a medium heat, then add the following ingredients in this order: ghee or oil, garlic paste, ginger paste, fried onions, green chillies, turmeric, and chilli powder to taste. Fry for 1 minute.
