Zesty Runner Beans

This was another vegetable that we grew in our back garden. Our runner beans seemed to have a mind of their own, climbing over the fence and taking up residence in the front garden too. When my mum left for work in the hot summer months, she would leave through the back door. She would shout up to my bedroom, saying ‘don’t forget to water the vegetables and don’t forget to drench the fence.’
