I confess a fondness for hot cross buns undimmed by conversion to Judaism. We make them as we have customers of many faiths and backgrounds and because I believe that it is best to focus on sharing food and celebrations whenever we may have the chance in a shared community space. As I don’t bake them at home, the bakery gives me the chance to savour the process and the flavour and to bring the beauty of the sourdough version to an appreciative audience when demand is highest.
