On a trip to Jerusalem, many years ago, we stayed with family friends and ate these cookies for breakfast with coffee, while overlooking the city. Our host, Lily, generously translated the recipe from Hebrew to English for me and I scribbled it on a scrap of paper. I have never found a recipe I like better than this one, the cookies are crumbly, delicious and perfect. We make the same recipe in the bakery, but with peanut butter replacing tahini, as the peanut butter version is more popular
