If anyone is planning on giving up chocolate as their New Year’s resolution, they might think again after a slice of this! When cooking for a crowd, it’s best to make this recipe ahead of time and warm it through in the oven before serving. The delicate flavour of orange flower is a really nice addition to the sweet mascarpone cream.

Ingredients

For the Torte

  • 225 g butter
  • 225 g caster sugar

Method

Preheat the oven to 180°C/fan 160°C/gas 4.

Beat together the butter and sugar until light and creamy. Gradually add the egg yolks, beating well after each one. Mix in the chocolate, ground almonds, cinnamon and brandy.

In a separate bowl, whisk the egg wh
