Instead of rice or carbs with my curry, often I have this sweet, toffee-like, mustardpopping slaw. We use red cabbage and onion in Mowgli as red cabbage has a better crunch and less sweetness. The onion is critical. No Indian slaw would be without it.


  • 1 small red cabbage, quartered, cored and finely shredded
  • 2 small red onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 large red chilli, deseeded and


  1. Combine the cabbage, onions, chilli, raisins and coriander in a large bowl, dress with the Mowgli salad dressing and give everything a good mix together. Season with salt to taste. Allow to stand for 15 minutes before serving.
