Indians rarely have sweets like this as a dessert. These are festive sweet meats that are complicated to make and hence feature at parties and weddings. The reason I chose to put this on the menu is because there is something about the gulab jamun that just snags on the male DNA. All the lads in my family are addicted, as are my male chefs. Fascinating. I love them, but don’t need them like my husband does. It was gulab jamun on the menu, or decree nisi.
