Brains are considered a great delicacy by many people in the Middle East. A Syrian student I met in London admitted to cooking and eating three sets a day in his bed-sitting room, such was his passion for them.

In some parts of the Middle East, it is believed that they feed one’s own brain and render one more intelligent. In other places, it is thought that eating brains reduces one’s intelligence to that of the animal, and people who hold such beliefs cannot be persuaded to touch t
