During the numerous festivals, such as the Mûlid el Nabi, which celebrates the birth of the Prophet, the pilgrimage to the sacred well of Zemzem, or the Cham el Nessim, a festival in honour of nature originating in Ancient Egypt and signifying ‘breathing the new fresh air’, people were in the habit of filling baskets with picnic food and spending the days and nights in public gard
