Method

Pick very ripe, black mulberries. Extract their juice by putting them in a thin muslin bag and squeezing them tightly. Alternatively, squash them with a wooden spoon through a hair sieve. Measure the volume of juice in a measuring jug and pour it into an enamelled pan. Add double the volume of sugar and a tablespoon of lemon juice
