Sagun is a peculiar treat. It looks like bottled sand from the reclaimed beach, except that it is sugary sweet and also contains grated coconut. The one key ingredient used in the past to retain its crunchiness was kapor (slaked lime powder), the same ingredient added to pickled achar.
