These little purses contain bijan or sesame seeds. The edges are twisted and turned in the same way as Indian curry puffs. It is also more convenient to purchase the bifold plastic mould for this treat. Bordering on savoury and sweet, they are delicious.

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 150 g or ounces butter
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. For the pastry, mix the butter, egg and vanilla essence by hand. Add the flour and knead. Pour water a bit at a time as you knead, enough to make the dough pliable. Wrap and chill in a refrigerator for a few hours. Thaw for 10 to 20 minutes before using.
