This onigiri almost looks like sushi, making it perfect to serve at parties and special events. When using smoked salmon, it’s important to serve it as soon as it is prepared.

Ingredients

  • Smoked salmon 8 slices, about 5 x 5-cm (2 x 2-in)
  • Shiso leaves 8
  • Salt

Method

  1. Place salmon in the middle of a sheet of cling wrap and put a piece of shiso leaf face down over the salmon.
  2. Place cling wrap in a rice bowl and scoop one-eighth of the rice into the bowl. Pull out rice together with cling wrap and mould rice into a ball.
  3. Remove cling wrap and garnish rice ball with lemon. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
