An easily digestible and nutritious soup which is often given to children and invalids in Thailand, Kao Dom is also eaten for breakfast.

Heat the chicken stock in a saucepan. Add the ground pork and bring to a boil, stirring to break up the pork. Reduce heat to simmer. Add the rice and cook for 2 minutes. Season with fish sauce. Break an egg into each soup bowl and pour the boiling soup over the top. Sprinkle each bowl with the ginger, onion flakes, coriander leaves, green onions and dried red chilli flakes.
