This curry should properly contain pea eggplants, Makeua Pong (see Glossary), a tiny, bitter vegetable of the eggplant/tomato family slightly larger than a pea. It is not commercially obtainable in the United States at this time, but it is being experimentally grown and should be available in Thai markets shortly. Some Thai restaurants substitute green peas for appearance.
