This dish is widely available in restaurants and food shops throughout Thailand; probably because of the ease and speed of preparation. Suggested substitutes for broccoli are mustard greens, Swiss chard, Bok Choy, or any dark green, leaf vegetable. The use of oyster sauce marks it as originally Chinese; the garlic is a typical Thai touch.
