This dish is not widely known to foreigners, even those in Thailand. Among the Thai it is seldom served to guests. Siamese Buddhist nuns dress in white, from whence comes the Thai name for the dish, Kluay Buat Chee; exactly translated: Nun Bananas.

In a 2-quart coated saucepan, place all the ingredients except the mung beans. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 2 minutes. Pour into a serving dish and sprinkle with mung beans. Serve warm or chilled.
