These little pies are a play on the classic French pithiviers and can be served in place of a cheese course during dinner or as a finale to a lunch menu. They are made purposely small because they are rich. The glaze can be served separately in a jug to be added at the whim of the eater.

Mission figs are a small black variety available in autumn. While I like to use the Milawa Cheese Company’s Mt Buffalo Blue, a goat’s cheese, for this dish, any other blue cheese can be substituted.
