Orange and Cardamom Cream Tarts with Kakadu Bread Dates

This dessert was inspired by the flavours of the Middle East and those common in the cooking of North Africa. Fresh sweet dates from the Northern Territory are now making an appearance on the market in limited quantities when they are in season in late winter and early spring. If you can’t locate them, you can substitute the more readily available fresh medjool dates from California or fresh Turkish dates. If you’d rather make one large tart than individual tarts, try a rectangular 34 cm x
