Chocolate Panforte

The Tuscan town of Siena in Italy is renowned for its palio, the annual horse race in the cobbled town square, and its panforte, a local speciality made with nuts, candied fruit and spices. Different varieties of panforte are served in every espresso bar in the town. The following recipe incorporates chocolate to make it just a little richer.
