Ingredients

  • 1.15 kg Mcintosh Apples (see note), peeled, halved, cored and sliced
  • 120 ml water

Method

  1. Combine the apples and water in a non-reactive saucepan over a medium heat; bring to the boil.
  2. Decrease the heat to maintain a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes until the apples are reduced to a chunky purée and most of the water has evaporated. If the apples remain firm, add 60ml more water and continue cooking until they soften.
