These are a little like larger Buchteln and are served in a similar manner. While Buchteln may be left plain or filled with a jam or nut filling, these dumplings are always filled with fresh fruit. This recipe is based on dumplings I recently tasted at Café Central in Vienna, one of the best places to enjoy traditional and contemporary Viennese pastry specialities.
