Every ingredient in this dish takes me back to Sicily. The sun-dried tomatoes, with their pungent, tangy aroma, remind me of hot summers spent drying them on the roof, their scent filling the house. Fennel seeds, that familiar spice, bring to mind both sweet and savoury dishes (from spicy sausages to the fragrant Sicilian doughnuts called sfinci).
