Bread and Butter Pudding

Like most simple dishes, bread and butter pudding needs to be made with care. The slices of bread should be really thin, with the crusts removed - but don’t give in to the temptation to use packed sliced bread unless you want the pudding to taste like wet flannel! This nursery favourite becomes haute cuisine when made with Italian panettone instead of plain bread. Shades of Anton Mosimann.
