Homemade barbecue sauce is infinitely better than most store-bought versions and gives you the flexibility to personalize it to your tastes. Whether you like yours more or less sweet, or abundantly spicy (or not), feel free to adjust the seasonings as you desire.
In a small saucepan over high heat, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 20 minutes.
Use right away or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
