  • 1 medium-sized head of cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • Preferred spices (I like caraway seeds), to taste


  1. Set 1 leaf of cabbage aside. Shred the rest and place in a large bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the salt onto the shredded cabbage and massage the salt into the shreds, so it can penetrate every piece. After about 5 minutes, the cabbage will become soft and slightly translucent.
