Drying is one of the simplest, and best ways to preserve the mushroom harvest. For a decorative touch, thread the dried mushrooms onto string to make garlands.
The best dried mushrooms are those that have been freshly gathered from the woods and fields. To dry them, simply wipe them off with a damp cloth to remove all traces of dirt; do not wash. Remove the stems and, if desired, peel the caps.
