Kefir is another well-loved dairy product that the Russians have enjoyed for centuries. For a refreshing drink, serve it ice cold, plain or flavored with fruit syrup.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups light cream (or half and half)
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk

Method

Heat the cream until it is lukewarm, then stir in the buttermilk. Let stand for 24 hours in a warm place, then refrigerate. Serve very cold, sweetened or plain.
