Alcoholic fruit salad? It’s a no-brainer and of course they’ll love it. This one is rich and unusual, as it only uses grapes. It is also dangerously moreish. It is easy to assemble, but the fruit needs 4–6 hours to macerate, so start early.
Put the water and sugar in a little saucepan and bring to the boil. Turn down the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until all the sugar has dissolved, then add 2 tablespoons of the Amaretto. Bubble for just a minute more, then take off the heat and allow to cool a little before pouring over the halved grapes. Cover and chill for 4–6 hours.
