When I was young I kept climbing mountains with a bunch of friends. We met whenever business for everyone would let us, to climb whatever we were in shape to climb. On a nice day in July 1959, four of us arrived at Le Couteray in the upper Chamonix valley to try to make our way to a beautiful summit called Le Buet, which sits some 11,000 feet above the village of Vallorcine.
