Slice the pears, put them in a baking dish, sprinkle them with salt and pepper. Render the bacon and sauté it until golden, then remove it to a plate. Remove most of the bacon fat from the pan, and in the bit left, sauté the pears until brown, return the bacon to the pan, and mix with the pears.
