Fleurives or grefions is the name given in various parts of the Savoie to what is known in French as a griotte, the sour cherry. There is as much of a rush in France for sour cherries as there is in the United States; news of their arrival spreads quickly and, come the middle of June, Georgette never fails to ring my bell announcing that they are here. I make only a few jars, for I have no control over my greed when it come to this jam.
