  • About

Use, if you can, the tiny berries that grow along roadsides. If these are not available, you can use the cultivated fraises des bois. The vodka is an essential preservative because of the small amount of sugar in the beverage.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound wild strawberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 bottle

Method

Blend the strawberries to a puree. Mix with the sugar and wine. Bring to a boil and simmer a good 10 minutes. Cool slightly and add the vodka. Store in a sterilized wide-mouthed jar at least 1 week, then strain through a coffee filter. Do not push on the filter, just let the wine drip into a sterilized bottle until the filter contains no more than a dry extract of strawberries. Store in a dark
