Ingredients

  • a cod’s liver
  • pepper
  • salt
  • baking-soda

Method

Take the liver of a fair-sized cod, fresh from the sea, and let it lie overnight in salted water. Mince roughly, or, better, tear up with the fingers, removing all the stringy bits. Mix in a bowl with a tablespoonful of oatmeal, add a pinch of baking soda, and season with pepper and salt. Form into a bannock (a flat round), put on a plate, and place in a pot of boiling water.
