A great favourite with the bairns in our cottage homes; so called because it is boiled in a clout or cloth.

Ingredients

  • oatmeal
  • flour
  • suet
  • sultanas
  • bicarbonate of soda
  • cinnamon or mix

Method

Mix in a bowl three ounces of oatmeal and three of flour (or six ounces of either oatmeal or flour), three ounces of shredded suet and three of sugar, four ounces of sultanas (or two of sultanas and two of currants), one teaspoonful of ground cinnamon or mixed spices, and half a teaspoonful of bicarb
