Homegrown frozen peas win against imported avocados in this sustainable, non-traditional version of the snack classic, and it tastes just as good if not better. Serve with tortilla chips – either homemade or shop-bought, and use any leftovers alongside your chilli or fajitas the next day.
Bring a pan of salted water to the boil, then add the frozen peas. Return to the boil and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes until the peas are just tender, then drain in a sieve and run under cold water until they are completely cold.
