Cucumber Sandwiches

According to the chef at the Savoy we’ve been making classic cucumber sandwiches wrongly all these years. You aren’t supposed to slice the cucumber into circles but, using a peeler, slice it lengthways, very finely, avoiding the seeds. In the interests of research for my readers, I have done a taste test both ways and I’m sorry, Mr Chef at the Savoy, cucumber sandwiches have more crunch if the cucumber is cut into very fine circles. So ignore him and listen to me!
