Name: Sandwich Spread

Ingredients: 1 carrot, finely diced; 100 ml Heinz salad cream; 1 tsp Dijon mustard or any mild non-grainy mustard; ½ red pepper, deseeded and finely diced; 5-6 gherkins, drained and finely diced; ¼ stick celery, finely diced; Sea salt, to taste; 1 tsp Dijon mustard or any mild non-grainy mustard

Remember this? Remember salad cream, before we discovered proper mayonnaise? My nan always had ‘sandwich spread’ on the tea table. For those who love nostalgia, here is a home-made version.

Ingredients

100 ml Heinz salad cream
1 carrot, finely diced
¼ stick

Method

Mix all the ingredients together, then chill and use in sandwiches.
