These Swedish biscuits are great to bake for Christmas decorations, either for the table or for hanging from a tree. Just punch a little hole in each biscuit and thread a ribbon through it.

Ingredients

  • 180 g soft dark brown sugar
  • 4-5 tbsp golden syrup

Method

Put the sugar, golden syrup, orange juice, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt into a pan over a medium heat and bring to the boil while stirring, then take the pan off the heat and stir in the butter. Once combined, add the bicarbonate of soda and whisk. Pour this mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer and leave to cool until it is lukewarm.
