Sloe gin is terribly expensive so have a go at making your own; it’s easy to make and you’ll be so proud. It’s great for gifts as well as tea party tipples. Addictive stuff.
Tip all the ingredients into the Kilner jar and stir to mix, then seal and keep in a dark cupboard. Leave for 6 months to a year. Every so often shake the jar.
After 6 months, strain the alcohol from the fruit (the fruit can be used in trifles or combined with whipped cream and meringue). Using a funnel, pour the alcohol into a pretty sterilised bottle or two and seal. Add a label and r
