One of my greatest delights in visiting Buenos Aires were the cafés with their marvelous pastries and selections of simple, moist pound cakes in loaf tins. In one bakery they had a very orange-looking loaf that was remarkably fragrant. I begged the baker to share his secret (since I was going to be baking it a few thousand miles away!) but he was tight-lipped, and so back home the experimenting began. I am very proud of this cake.
