In a fine-mesh sieve, rinse rice with cold water. In a large pot, bring rice and water to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover and cook for 35 minutes. Reduce heat to low, add salt and oil, stir gently, cover tightly, and steam over very low heat for 25 minutes longer.
